This magnificent example of craftsmanship and folk art decoration is probably Canadian; 1855 is painted in very faded yellow on one end. There has been some repair and replacement of a wooden rocker, but the painted portion is intact and original. A true antique for the discriminating collector.
Cend016 illustrates the floral painting on each end of this piece, one end also has the equally decorated rocker bar for mother.
Click on the picture for additional images, which also illustrate the side decoration (same on both sides).

How did a piece so delicate survive from the late 1700's or early 1800's? We think this English soft paste spatterware is especially nice. It has a very old flake chip on the edge that may have been caused by a wall hanger. The design is three colors; blue, green, and red. No markings.

Handmade around the turn of the century on a family farm right here in Ohio. We took them off the farm personally from the great-grandson who is still milking cows today, just like his ancestor who made these charming birdhouses. They still contain the bird nests; no extra charge. Original paint on all, trim around the door is gone. A very unusual piece!

Same farm, same maker. This one is rough, but you can see the remains of the original blue paint on the sides and front of the house. There is also age and weather damage to the base. Wonderful Ohio folk art! Both are same dimensions 9" to roof; base is 9"wide and 12" long.

| Both are ornately made vintage cotton nightdresses; each with tucking on the bodice and lace trim inserts. The detail is amazing, handwork like this is just a lost art now, I think. I hope you can appreciate the detail from the bodice pictures of each dress. They appear to be the same approximate size; 46 ½"length (back of neck to hem), 23" chest, and 19½" sleeve (shoulder to cuff)

Handmade, hand-doweled, and hand-carved. What a piece! Original slate blue paint still showing on the legs, with areas of wear. The top is unpainted wood that shows the craftsmanship of the doweling; no marks, appears all original.
